I am a lot of things.
I am a addicted to tea. I am weirded out by eyes…And belly buttons. I am a fan of Parks and Rec, of custard creams and thunder storms. I am Instagram obsessed. I am an early-bird. I am a friend, a girlfriend, a student, a blogger, a cheese-eating, overly-anxious, Jesus-loving, 20 year old human.
Our identities are a beautiful tangled mess of places, people, loved-ones, talents and passions.
Our experiences and relationships make us who we are. But if we had to chose ONE thing to define us, to base our sense of self on…well, it would be pretty tricky.
‘You’re a good, good Father, it’s who you are’
He is a loving, loyal, consistent Father. That’s God’s identity. That’s who He is. A father. A protector. A comforter.
But who are we?
‘and I’m loved by you, it’s who I am’
There’s your answer.
We are many things. We are the schools we’ve gone to, the places we’ve travelled to, the people we’ve met.
But above everything, we are loved by our saviour.
If you’re struggling to work out who you are and what your purpose is, remember that who ever you might be, whatever mistakes or regrets you may have in your past, YOU ARE LOVED BY HIM, IT’S WHO YOU ARE.
Yes, capitals are necessary. That’s how much He adores you.
For we are God’s masterpiece, created to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
