This weekend my heart was SO full whilst watching women march in solidarity. Images of the most witty, clever and hilarious signs carried by brave, strong women got me feeling pretty inspired. It was feminism in action and it was beautiful.
Mostly, the weekend of girl-power has got my thinking about ways I can show the women in my life how much I love and respect them.
Let’s not let the spirit of feminine strength fade, we can carry that sense of togetherness into our week and let it affect how we treat the women around us.
Want to make a little extra effort to love your girl friends well this week? Here are a few ideas…
I love words. (I know, surprise, surprise). One way I like to show my girlfriends I love them is by writing little notes. Living with some special women? Why not slide a few words of appreciation under their door. Or if you’re like me (a middle-age woman trapped inside a 20 year old body) and always have stamps tucked in our purse, why not pop a few kind messages in the post.
ONE ON ONE CONVO
Let’s be intentional with our chatter this week and set aside some time to have undisturbed one-on-one conversation with a lady in your life. If quality time is your love language then this ones for you, but even if not I promise setting some time aside to really chat to the girls in your life will strengthen your friendships.
WHATCHA GOT COOKING?
Ok, I’m not a chef (lol, understatement) BUT one way humans show love to each other is in the sharing of food. Why not cook for a friend this week? It doesn’t have to be Jamie Oliver’s standard, I promise your gal pal will appreciate the time and effort you put into making a dish for them. There’s nothing better than sweet chats over yummy food.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Does one of your friends have a crazy schedule this week? Our own lives move a pretty fast pace but maybe we can take some time out to help someone else with a project, or simply run some errands for them. Have a think about what the ladies in your life have going on and how you can support them.
Let’s be a community that loves our friends well. It’s a learning process and something we can all improve at, but it all starts with a little conviction in our hearts- this week we will do our best to empower, encourage and love the women around us.
