It’s Autumn, friends.
Which means fireworks, crunchy orange leaves and loads of beautiful photos of people posing in pumpkin fields flooding our social media.
My favourite thing about Autumn? Getting cosy after hurrying home on the cold, darker evenings.
Have you heard of Hygge? It’s a Danish idea that suggests the happiest lifestyle comes from cosiness (ok, I’m probably not explaining it very well, but go google it. I promise it’s a thing!)
If you’re on board with those Danish cosy vibes, why not inject a bit of autumnal decor into your home?
Here are my 10 easy home decor ideas that can transform your space into a cosy autumnal haven….
Rustic decor is a great way to bring a touch of autumn cosiness into your home. Wooden signs with pretty calligraphy create a lovely shabby-chic look. RedAcornInteriors have several signs which are all so pretty, I’d buy them all if I could. Find them here!
Soft throw/ blanket
Temperatures are getting chiller so it’s time to invest in a cosy blanket to curl up in. Chunky Knit blankets are alll over my social media right now and I get why. If you’re looking for a soft, elegant throw, look no further than ColorwaysGallery .
I am an absolute sucker for mason jars. I just love them. They are so versatile, they can be decorative or used as storage, plus…they just look really sweet! Fairylights in mason jars creates a cosy glow, like these ones here. They also make sweet vases for some autumnal flowers, like these lovely vintage designs from charlierosevintageuk.
Autumnal pom poms
If you’ve been following me on any social media platform for 5 minutes you’ll know that I LOVE POM POMS. Seriously, I’m a bit obsessed. But I genuinely do think these autumnal pom poms give your room a cosy feel. The yarn is superrr soft and fluffy. (I promise this is the last plug of my own craft’s in this post!)
Candles- It’s one thing embracing the cosy aesthetic but if you really want to achieve those autumnal vibes it’s important not to neglect scents. Candles are EVERYWHERE at this time of year, but chosing the right scent is crucial to creating a cosy atmosphere- like these Spiced Apple And Peaches candles. Or, if you’re feeling creative (and confident!) why not try making your own candles. Check out this post to find out how.
These fun tassel garlands from ellenorshop are great for parties at this time of year, having a birthday or housewarming? Why not grab these sparkly cuties and make your walls shine… or just buy them and pop them up any day of the year!
Chillier days call for warm drinks. Maybe you’re a tea drinker like me, or perhaps you run on coffee. Whatever your warm drink of choice, it’s always a better experience when it’s drank from a pretty mug, like this lovely design from MikaMugs.
If you like pretty designs and modern calligraphy, a print is a fun way to sprouse up your space. Why not go for an autumnal quote, like this beautifully handlettered quote from CreativeFeel .
Squash/ small pumpkins
When you think of Autumn I bet one of the first words that comes to mind is ‘pumpkins’. You can pick up these orange and yellow cuties at most farmers markets so keep your eyes peeled next time you’re out and about. Or if you want a more permanent pumpkin feature, these felt pumpkins are a fun way to bring some autumnal fun to your space.
I will always say yes to more fairy lights. They create a warm lighting which will always contribute to a cosy atmosphere. Fairy lights are great all year round but with the evenings getting longer, they are a lovely way to create a relaxing space. Why not check out these pretty autumnal fairylights? They are sure to create a orange glow that will get you feeling autumnal.
